South Bend Redevelopment Commission
scheduled Regular Meeting - January 4, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
MR. SOSNOSKI: I live in the 700 block of
Wenger. Could I go out and get my own
appraisal?
MRS. KOLATA: Yes.
MR. SOSNOSKI: How about the money it costs
for that, to get a legitimate one?
MRS. KOLATA: I'm not sure. I don't think so.
Usually we tell people to wait until they get
our offer before they pay money for an
appraisal. Because if we're not far apart, it
may not be necessary.
MR. SOSNOSKI: Can you give us a better idea
IL when you're going to get to the 700 block?
Am I looking at trying to find a house next
September? Next May?
MRS. KOLATA: At this point I can't. It's a
budgetary issue. We can't afford to send all
of the purchase offers at the same time. If
you all accept and we pay relocation
benefits, we wouldn't have enough money.
That's why we're going to do it in phases.
I think we'll do some the first half of the
year. We are going to start with that area
north of Keasey up to Sample.
(Someone): In the dead of winter.
MRS. KOLATA: There's a 90 day notice to
vacate. We would not force anyone out in
less than 90 days. That's after the 30 days.
You're talking a minimum of four months
Ok
s
-14-
