South Side Development Area <br /> (1) continued... <br /> that she will not stay in a construction zone <br /> with her small children. That means I will <br /> have an empty house that would not have <br /> income coming in, so there will also be a <br /> financial responsibility there if the city <br /> decides not to buy my personal property. <br /> Finding another tenant during construction <br /> and after changing the entire neighborhood <br /> would certainly change what I could charge <br /> for rent and what type of tenant I could <br /> possibly get in a neighborhood that was <br /> destroyed by this new type of construction. <br /> I would urge every leader in our South Bend <br /> community that has anything to say about <br /> this project to take seriously the fact that this <br /> project is changing people's lives. Take a <br /> lesson from the South Bend regional Airport <br /> project where they had treated most people <br /> fairly and even though the project is not <br /> developed in the full-blown finished project <br /> we expected at first for economic reasons, <br /> they did take care the people they did <br /> displaced and are now are set to be able to <br /> take care of any growth that may happen in <br /> the near and far future on the west side <br /> around the airport. <br /> Finally, I would urge you to understand that <br /> the best plan may go even further than the <br /> first plan you thought of I would urge you <br /> consider purchasing all of the houses from <br /> Chippewa South to Ireland Rd. and from the <br /> golf course west to Michigan Street to allow <br /> South Bend to develop that area as <br /> commercial property.
