PUBLIC WORKS AND PROPERTY VACATION JULY 23, 2012 3:30 P.M. Committee Member's Present: Dr. David Varner, Oliver Davis, Valerie Schey Other Council Member's Present: Tim Scott, Henry Davis, Dr. Fred Ferlic Karen White, Derek Dieter Other's Present: Mike Mecham, Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Mike Schmuhl, Larry Magliozzi, Gary Gilot, Christa Nayder, James Lietzan, Mark Neal, Mark Lyons, Joseph Gelchion Agenda: Bill No. 29 -12 Alley Vacation — Michigan/Madison Bill No. 23 -12 — Alley Vacation — LaSalle /Hill Bill No. 29 -12 - This bill was presented to David Varner's Public Works and Property Vacation Committee by James Lietzan of the engineering firm DLZ. The petitioner asked for the vacation of two alleys allowing the consolidation of properties bounded by Michigan, Madison, and Main St. Mark Lyons from the Building Department reported a favorable recommendation from the Board of Public Works. All city departments signed -off on the petition. After brief discussion Valerie Schey motioned the bill be sent to full Council with a favorable recommendation. All affirmed after Oliver Davis' second. Bill No. 31 -12 - This bill would vacate an alley running west from Hill St. between LaSalle and Madison. Mr. Joseph Gelchion, owner of the property made the presentation. Mark Lyons reported a favorable recommendation from the Board of Public Works. There being no one present to speak for or against Valerie Schey motioned and Oliver Davis seconded the motion that the petition be sent to full Council favorably. All affirmed. Under miscellaneous Councilmember Dieter requested the city engineer study the intersection of Angela Blvd., and W. North Shore Dr. to see if a traffic signal could be removed.
