Each of the three types should follow the color code listed below. The <br />bonnet and nozzle/pumper caps are also to be color -coded according to the hydrants' rated flow rate at 20 <br />psi (see below). <br />The NFPA has published standards regarding the maintenance and color coding of fire hydrants (NFPA 291). <br />The scheme is as follows: <br />-� A <br />Municipal System: <br />Private System - <br />Non -Potable System <br />H drant ratin s at 20 psi. <br />Red <br />Class C <br />Less than 500 GPM <br />Re <br />Class B <br />500-999 GPM' <br />Class A <br />1000-1499 GPM <br />Green <br />Class AA <br />1500 GPM & above <br />Light Blue <br />
