There was also a question about police department activity and
wanted to let the Council know that there have been 371 traffic stops between the period of May
8, 2012 and May 24, 2012. 78 walking patrols that he has asked for placing the officers out of
their cars. He stated that they have stepped up bridge enforcement, the U.S. 31 bridge where
Michigan Street crosses the river is under some strain, and so there are signs indicating that
trucks may not drive on that bridge and in order to make sure that is enforced the police
department has been asked to act and 4 tickets were issued during the period of May 21, 2012
and May 24, 2012.

Councilmember Oliver Davis stated that he talked with one of those truck drivers who received
on of those tickets said that where the signs are placed, they are not noticeable, with all the trees
and vegetation in bloom. He asked the Mayor if he is aware of any kind of issues like that.

Mayor Buttigieg stated that action was taken to make the signs more visible by having one
positioned north bound and then another on south bound.
