77t3 <br />The following communications received, read and placed on file. <br />July 21st.1920 <br />Board of Public Works, <br />South Bend, Indiana. 1 <br />Gentlemen: <br />- <br />I will be out of the city -tonight or would attend t)to,,zeet ing of <br />Your Board with reference to the paving of N. Michigan Street. <br />For your information I am inclosing herewith a letter just received <br />from Mr. Bryan I am -of the opinion that alarge portion of the frontage on this <br />street is dpposed to any expensive pavement at this time. I believe Mr.. <br />Leighton, the street commissioner, could put this street in good condition <br />leveling up the holes and then a top dressing oiled once or twi** a year would <br />keep the dust out. <br />In view of the fact ..that the street car company will not put in a <br />permanent improvement I certainly - ,do not favor building a curb. <br />Yours truly, <br />THOS. ELLIOTT <br />President. <br />July.19,1920. <br />Mr. Thomas Slick <br />Slick x, Slick <br />-South, Bend-1 Indiana. <br />Dear Mr. Slick: <br />Have just received notice left at my residence by Mr. Thieldns <br />in reference to the Board of Works meeting to be held on next Wednesday on the <br />proposed repaving on North Michigan Street from North Shore Drive, North, and as <br />it will be impossible for me to attend this meeting, wish to advise that under <br />present conditions I am not in favor of repaving this street at the present <br />time at the high prevailing prices. <br />I have talked to some of the'property owners.of,this matter, and <br />I an of the opinion that the majority of the property owners are not in favor <br />of the` repaying at least this year. <br />Ynn ra vr. ry t.rtii-1 v <br />WEB.
