CENTER GREEN <br /> RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY <br /> South Bend—Mayor Pete Buttigieg will partake in the green ribbon cutting ceremony at <br /> the Martin Luther King Jr. Center to highlight energy savings generated from an Energy <br /> Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant that was awarded to South Bend. The <br /> ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. <br /> The King Center is located at 1522 Linden Avenue. <br /> "I'm glad to see that the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant has generated <br /> energy savings for this wonderful center,"said Buttigieg. <br /> Mayor Buttigieg will be joined by 2nd District Councilman Henry Davis, Jr., Jon Burke, <br /> the Municipal Energy Director, representatives from the South Bend Parks and <br /> Recreation Department, members of the community and the Green Ribbon Commission. <br /> Funds from the grant went toward lighting upgrades for the center's gymnasium, which <br /> has shown a 20 percent reduction in energy consumption in the building. <br /> "The lighting upgrades represent the tip of the iceberg when it comes to energy <br /> management and conservation around the city,"said Burke. <br /> Visit the South Bend Municipal Energy Office's website at www.southbendin.gov/energy <br /> for more information.
