Nrainran F 6601-1930 <br />CITY of SouT1•t BEND PETF BUTTIGIEG, MAYOR <br />R <br />BOA RDi OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />October 9, 2018 <br />Lucille Stewart <br />604 Cottage Grove Ave. <br />South Bend, IN 46616 <br />P [ow 574/ 235-9251 <br />FAX 574/235.9171 <br />RE: Request for Traffic Control Device — Handicapped Accessible Parking Space Sign <br />Dear Ms. Stewart: <br />The Board of Public Works, at its meeting held on October 9, 2018, denied your request for <br />the installation of a handicapped accessible parking space sign at 604 Cottage Grove Ave., as <br />it does not meet the requirements. <br />The Ordinance for handicapped parking space sign is written for 1) a handicapped vehicle <br />associated with a driver who has medical proof of handicap recognized by the Bureau of <br />Motor Vehicles and who resides at a residence where the space is being reserved and 2) that <br />does not have a driveway that offers ease of handicapped access. After review of your <br />application and the area in front of your home, it was determined that there is a driveway that <br />will provide better access. <br />If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact Engineering, at (574) <br />235-9251. <br />Sincerely, <br />Linda M.
