DIVISION 2 — DEMOLITION <br />2.01 Masonry Demolition <br />1. Before work begins, conduct through inspection of existing parapet. In coordination with <br />SBH, determine which sections of parapet must be rebuilt and which sections can be <br />repointed. Determine which, if any, third floor steel lintels should be replaced. Priority is to be <br />given to the most decayed areas and the efficient allocation of the unit prices. Contractor to <br />provide a written schedule, staging, and plan for completing the designated work. <br />New 60 mil EPDM roof membrane will not be secured to parapet. Roof work will leave the <br />membrane edge in a configuration that may be folded back to complete the adjacent coping <br />and wall work. Mason must protect the roof membrane from damage during masonry work. It <br />is the mason's responsibility to not puncture, tear, or in any way damage the EPDM <br />membrane. Mason to provide night and weekend weather protection to the underlying <br />structure. After masonry work is complete, roof contractor will return to secure membrane to <br />coping and install aluminum coping cap. <br />3. Carefully remove existing masonry units, clean, and stack for reuse. <br />4. Contractor is responsible for removing waste generated by their work from the job -site, <br />Coordinate dumpster location with SBH. Coordinate truck and/or lift access with SBH. <br />2.02 Fire Stair Demolition <br />Remove existing fire steel fire stairs from the east side of the building including landings, <br />rails, treads, and support posts. Care must be taken to either cut or carefully remove any <br />steel elements built into the existing masonry walls. Notify SBH of any new or existing <br />damage to surrounding masonry walls. <br />2. Equipment access to east side of the building is limited. SBH will arrange lift and crane <br />access with the adjacent property owner. <br />3. Assess suitability of existing concrete piers for reuse. SBH to remove and replace any piers <br />determined to be unusable. Location of any replacement piers and type of anchors to be <br />indicated on fabrication shop drawings. <br />
