West Wasthington-Chapin Development Area <br /> (1) continued... <br /> Upon a motion by Ms. King, seconded by COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION No.2960 <br /> Mr. Alford and unanimously carried, the AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF REAL PROPERTY <br /> Commission approved Resolution No. 2960 TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC <br /> authorizing the transfer of real property to the WORKS.(803 W.WASHINGTON) <br /> City of South Bend Board of Public Works. <br /> (803 W. Washington) <br /> (2) Memorandum of Understanding with the <br /> University of Notre Dame, South Bend <br /> Heritage Foundation and Vanir Group of <br /> Companies for the redevelopment of <br /> Hansel Center. <br /> Mr. Relos noted that beginning in March <br /> 2009, the Department has been working with <br /> community partners to transform the historic <br /> Hansel Center, located at 1045 W. <br /> Washington, into a premier arts and cultural <br /> center. This facility will strengthen the <br /> community by celebrating cultural diversity <br /> through its provision of a common and <br /> accessible space for community <br /> programming, art, and education. It will <br /> provide a gathering place through its class <br /> and meeting rooms, gallery, and outdoor <br /> spaces. This facility will have a national and <br /> international reach, which will ultimately <br /> attract resources from outside the area and <br /> further strengthen the local community. <br /> The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) <br /> between South Bend Heritage Foundation, <br /> Vanir (a donor to the project), the University <br /> of Notre Dame, and the Redevelopment <br /> Commission, will allow the hammers to start <br /> swinging. The MOU lists each partner's <br /> 21 <br />
