Broden, Jake <br /> Teshka, Oliver Davis, John Voorde, Gavin Ferlic, Karen White <br /> Agenda: Discussion of Council Agenda <br /> Update and Announcements <br /> Council Logo Vote <br /> MBE/WBE Utilization Board and Human Right's Commission(5 Interviews) <br /> Adj ournment <br /> Council President Tim Scott called to order the Informal Meeting of the Common Council at 5:19 <br /> .m. with five (5) items on the agenda. The Council went over the agenda for that night's formal <br /> Council meeting and detailed the recommendations for each bill from the various committees. <br /> Councilmember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to recess and reconvene in the Informal Council <br /> Meeting Room for the interviews. Councilmember Karen White seconded that motion which <br /> carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> The Informal Meeting of the Common Council recessed at 5:22 p.m. and reconvened in the <br /> Informal Council Meeting Room at 5:24 p.m. with four (4) Council Members present <br /> (Councilmembers Scott, White, Voorde and Ferlic). <br /> Council President Scott and the Council then conducted interviews for citizen membership of the <br /> MBE/WBE Utilization Board and the Human Right's Commission. Under consideration for the <br /> Human Right's Commission was Glendarae Hernandez and Randi Irwin. Under consider for the <br /> MBE/WBE Utilization Board were Breanna Allen and Kareemah Fowler. Ms. Hernandez focused <br /> on her experience with the Commission. Her goal is to expand the study circles program that she <br /> created in the 1990s. She also mentioned wanting to focus on increasing education. <br /> Councilmembers Teshka, Broden and Williams-Preston arrived at the meeting at 5:26 p.m. <br /> Councilmember McBride arrived at the meeting at 5:28 p.m. <br /> Ms. Irwin talked about her passion and devotion to promoting diversity and inclusivity. She <br /> mentioned her strong advocacy for the LGBTQ population as being dear to her heart. She wants <br /> to incorporate diverse backgrounds and perspectives in the work the Commission does. She looks <br /> forward to starting discussions about things not often talked about with regard to diversity and <br /> inclusivity in the community. Ms. Allen expressed her experience with women-owned and <br /> minority-owned companies. She wants to be a resource for those businesses by obtaining this <br /> opportunity.
