South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting -March 10, 2006
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. South Bend Central Development Area
() continued...
developments have brought a fair amount
of attention to Vancouver and to Denver.
They are reported regularly in the
literature on green building in
architectural types of literature. Every
one of these has a Web site. We could
also make available to the staff and
Commissioners a disk that gives the
details on each of these.
Ms. Jones: I'm particularly interested in
number 14, the Cleveland, Ohio, one
because it's Midwestern. We're not
Chicago, we're not Denver. We won't
have the draw that those places have.
Cleveland is a similar place, although
bigger than South Bend. Is that
development similar to yours?
Mr. Keen: I suspect it's bigger. Mixed
use. The same types of principles, in
terms of the urban design, density, as well
as the kinds of technology used in the
building.
Ms. Jones: And, likewise, number 20, the
Madison, Wisconsin, one, because that's a
college town, there might be some
similarities there. Those are the two that
struck me as maybe .. .
Mr. Bergeman: Would you like us to get
you some additional information on
those?
Ms. Jones: Please. That would be great.
44
