South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting — March 4, 2005
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
D. Airport Economic Development Area
(1) continued...
counter - offers represent the culmination of
negotiations with ostensibly unwilling
sellers.
Eminent domain cannot be used in the
Airport Economic Development Area and
therefore all transactions are to follow the
Commission's voluntary acquisition policy.
It has been determined that the nature of this
project is such to warrant the payment of
relocation benefits to those who are
displaced. Staff has worked closely with
these individuals to make sure this has
happened.
L*4 It is the recommendation of staff that these
offers be accepted in order to complete this
project successfully and move forward with
demolition and consolidation of the parcels.
Acquisition of these parcels is necessary to
complete the development plan for the area.
Ms. Jones inquired if the purchase price of
these three parcels kept staff within budget.
Ms. Hughes replied that staff was under
budget.
Mr. Hunt asked if the dollar figures listed
represented the counter - offers.
Ms. Hughes responded that the figures did
reflect the counter - offers.
IL 23
