South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -July 20, 2007
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
K. Other
() continued...
has always been a good business incubator.
We need a place like that. I'm afraid that by
letting us interfere with what has been a
process that has worked well, we're going to
wreck that. Eventually, we're going to see
this area added to the Airport Economic
Development Area. We' 11 have Hurwich and
everyone else in Miami and eventually these
guys will be part of it as well. If you give us
an inch we'll take a mile.
Mr. Peterson: First, a major step like what
you are talking about is a whole process in
and of itself. We've seen that develop over
the past few months. That's a significant
process. There's no plan or thought to do
that. We're not even doing a tax increment
district here. Second, this resolution starts
the dialog for the Commission to act. ~Ue're
not asking today to take any action to
establish a program. It just starts the dialog.
It makes the initial findings regarding the
neighborhood. It allows us to go to the next
meeting with additional support and the
cooperation and public support to begin this
process more thoroughly.
Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by
Mr. Peczkowski and unanimously carried,
the Commission approved Resolution
No. 2364 making certain findings regarding
proposed Mishawaka Avenue Urban
Renewal Area.
Commission approved Resolution
No. 2364 making certain findings
regarding proposed Mishawaka Avenue
Urban Renewal Area
61
