e ~ Zonin and Annexation Cornrr~ittee Meeting <br />g <br />2007 South Bend Common Council <br />The August 13, 2007 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee of the South <br />Bend Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member AI <br />"Buddy" Kirsits at 3:32 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room. <br />Persons in attendance included Council Members Rouse, Pfeifer, Kelly, Puzzello, <br />Kirsits, Dieter, and Kuspa; J. Edward Talley, Robert Nemeth, Martha Lewis, Jeffrey J. <br />Hodes, Jamie Loa of the South Bend Tribune and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council <br />Attorney. <br />Counci! Member Kirsits noted that the committee members include Council Members <br />Kuspa, Pfeifer, Varner and himself. <br />Substitute Bill IVo. 31-{37 Rezoning Request for 218 Chapin Street <br />Council Member Kirsits called for a report from the staff of the Area Plan on Bill No. 31- <br />07 which is a request to rezone the property located at 218 Chapin Street in <br />Councilmanic District 2 (copy attached) <br />Robert Nemeth, a staff member with the Area Plan Commission noted that the Area <br />Plan Commission held a public hearing on Substitute Bill No. 31-07 and that received a <br />favorably recommendation. <br />Jeffrey J. Hodes, of 218 Chapin Street made the formal presentation. He noted that he <br />is requested to change the zoning of the property from Mixed Use District (MU) to Singe <br />Family and Two Family District (SF2). This is the home which he shares with his wife, <br />Janine Russell-Hodes, who is the co-petitioner. He noted that the property was part of <br />the Studebaker Museum development, and through mis-communications, the property <br />was not rezoned. This would correct that situation. <br />Council Member Pfeifer noted that the property in question used to be the office of <br />Planned Parenthood. She is very glad to see the property being used as residential. <br />She then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kuspa that Substitute Bill No. <br />31-07 be recommended favorably to Council.
