Mr. <br />Douglas declined a formal presentation volunteering to take questions. Dieter asked <br />about the search for a new Century Center Director and the possibility of combining the <br />management of Century Center, the Morris, and the Palais. Mr. Douglas said the Board <br />of Managers had decided it was not in Century Center's best interest to combine <br />management of the three entities. He underscored the importance of finding a manager <br />familiar with the convention business. The Board of Managers was also considering <br />contracting with a from to manage the center. Varner, Puzzello, and Rouse all spoke to <br />the unique character and the strong community ties to Century Center. Mayor Luecke <br />said there are many examples of management firms successfully operating convention <br />centers. Those contacts might even be a boom to convention business. <br />Anthony Douglas said the Board of Managers was proceeding cautiously keeping in mind <br />that quality of service offered at Century Center was more important than just the bottom <br />line. Charlotte Pfeifer suggested specific strong contractual terms if a management firm <br />was hired. Dieter then asked about the Century Centers's contract with the Football Hall <br />of Fame to provide services at a fee of $50,000 for 5 years. Anthony Douglas said the <br />real cost to Century Center for the service provision was $100,000 per year. Dieter also <br />asked who provides security at Century Center and how the provider was chosen. <br />Douglas said there was a 3 year security contract that was an RFP advertised by the <br />Controller. <br />Tim Rouse and Charlotte Pfeifer complimented the cleanliness of Century Center and the <br />good service provided there. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Dieter <br />adjourned the meeting at <br />espectfully sub 't d, <br /># - <br />~_ <br />Council Member Derek D.
