ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING $9,150,000 FOR MAJOR CAPITAL <br />INVESTMENT PROJECTS IN 2011 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />Several projects pertaining to economic development, community development, <br />and structural improvement have been identified of interest and benefit to the City of <br />South Bend. Among these are: <br />Potowatomi Conservatory renovation and rehabilitation ($1,200,000); <br />2. Alonzo Watson Bridge replacement due to structural deficiencies <br />($700,000); <br />Street Paving and Kroc center traffic signal ($2,100,000); <br />4. Street Lighting improvements ($300,000); <br />St. Joseph Hospital area site consolidation for economic and community <br />development investment ($1,200,000); <br />6. US 31 Project utility relocation ($60,000); <br />7. Transpo Property site acquisition and related costs for economic <br />development of this site ($1,000,000); <br />8. Sewer infrastructure investment at Riverside & Angela to facilitate <br />economic development ($1,500,000); <br />9. Miracle Park planning, property acquisition and infrastructure <br />improvements ($1,000,000); <br />10. East Bank riverwalk repair of structurally deficient boardwalk support <br />pylons ($50,000) <br />11. Elbel Golf Course water pump equipment replacing inefficient and <br />obsolete equipment ($40,000); <br />It is necessary to appropriate the funds to make the above identified capital <br />investment expenditures. <br />
