REGULAR MEETINGMAY 9, 2005 (ATFE), the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, and area law enforcement agencies continued success in effectively working together in making our streets and city safer. Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. stth Derek D. White, At Large th Dr. David Varner, 5 District KathleenCekanski-Farrand,Council Attorney Attest: John Voorde, City Clerk Stephen J. Luecke, Mayor Councilmember Derek D. Dieter, 1135 Portage Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in its entirety and presenting it to members of the Project Disarm Task Force. A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. Special Agent David Allbritten, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives, stated that on behalf of Project Disarm they are humbled by this honor. This honor is for all the men and women in law enforcement, whose cooperation that the Task Force works with on a day to day basis in St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties.Through funding from Project Safe Neighborhoods a Department of Justice Initiative they will continue the effort with integrity and ethics that these communities demand from law enforcement. U.S. Deputy District Attorney Donald Schmid, South Bend, Indiana, spoke on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Department of Justice, that they are honored to be working in close cooperation with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the City of South Bend Police Department, St. Joseph County Police Department, and the Elkhart City Police Department. Mr. Schmid stated that with those kinds of cooperative efforts between various law enforcement agencies that we can dedicate the kind of resources to make our streets safer and our communities a better place to live. Mr. Schmid thanked the Council for this great honor. Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. Councilmember Kuspa seconded the motion which carried.
