REGULAR MEETING MARCH 27, 2006 <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a <br />voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 87-05 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL TO <br /> VACATE THE FOLLOWING <br /> DESCRIBED PROPERTY: A PORTION <br /> OF KENWOOD AVENUE, LINDEN <br /> AVENUE, LAWTON AVENUE AND 3 <br /> NEARBY ADJACENT ALLEYS <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to hear the substitute version of this bill as <br />amended and on File in the Office of the City Clerk. Councilmember Dieter seconded <br />the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br />Councilmember Varner, Chairperson, Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, <br />reported that this Committee met this afternoon and it was the consensus of the <br />Committee to send this bill to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. <br />Mr. Bernard Feeney, Land, Feeney & Associates, Inc., 715 S. Michigan Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill on behalf of the Petitioners The Bosch <br />Corporation. <br />Mr. Feeney advised that this amended bill is to allow for vacation of streets and alleys in <br />the vicinity of Washington and Meade Streets to allow for the Bosch Corporation to <br />expand its Campus. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council in favor of this bill. <br />The following individuals spoke in opposition to this bill. <br />Mr. Cyrus Anderson, 1127 N. Twyckenham, South Bend, Indiana, stated that he owns <br />property at 2517 Kenwood and was questioning how this vacation would affect this <br />property. <br />Ms. Claudia Welch, 2514 Kenwood, South Bend, Indiana, stated that she owns property <br />located at 2514 Kenwood and wanted to know how this vacation would affect her <br />property. <br />In rebuttal, Mr. Feeney stated that 2517 and 2514 Kenwood are both located east of the <br />proposed vacation and would not be affected. <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion to recommend the substitute bill as amended and <br />on file in the Office of the City Clerk to full Council favorably. Councilmember Varner <br />seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 18-06 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE <br /> COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CONFIRMING <br /> THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY IN <br /> ANTICIPATION OF CITY PLAN <br />Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to continue this bill until the April 10, 2006 <br />meeting of the Council. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a <br />voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br />8 <br /> <br />
