PFA(X� a <br /> I „ <br /> X R <br /> 1865 <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br /> FRONT-YARD PARKING GUIDELINES <br /> The following guidelines are issued to assist residents and visitors to the City of South <br /> Bend, on Saturday, September 1, 2007, understand enforcement by the City of South Bend of <br /> various provisions of the South Bend Municipal Code relating to parking in residential <br /> neighborhoods. <br /> The South Bend Common Council currently has under consideration Bill 44-07 which <br /> would allow front yard parking in residential neighborhoods under certain conditions. That bill <br /> will not be considered by the Council until its meeting of September 17, 2007. All versions of <br /> that bill to date have provided for front yard parking during game days under certain conditions. <br /> Therefore, on Saturday, September 1, 2007, the City of South Bend will not prohibit parking in <br /> front yards in residential neighborhoods. <br /> However, in order to ensure the safety of the general public, the City will continue to <br /> enforce its Municipal Code in the following circumstances: <br /> 1. Parking which blocks or hinders access by public safety vehicles on all public <br /> streets and rights of way. <br /> 2. Parking which blocks or impedes access to sidewalks, fire hydrants, and <br /> driveways. <br /> 3. Driving over curbs and sidewalks, other than on a paved driveway. <br /> 4. Residents and visitors are reminded to be respectful of neighboring property when <br /> parking and walking through neighborhoods. <br /> For more information please contact: South Bend Legal Department, 235-9241. <br />
