South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—March 22, 2011 <br /> 6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br /> C. Airport Economic Development Area <br /> (4) continued... <br /> (5) Proposal for legal services for property <br /> acquired at tax sale. <br /> Mr. Relos noted that on February 8, 2011, the <br /> Commission approved Resolution No. 2840 <br /> which authorized staff to try to purchase two <br /> parcels in the Ignition Park south expansion <br /> area that were on the County <br /> Commissioner's tax sale list. <br /> One parcel was redeemed during the <br /> redemption period before the sale ended. <br /> The other parcel was purchased for $3,502. <br /> Now that this parcel has been acquired, <br /> notifications need to be published and mailed <br /> in addition to paperwork filed with the <br /> courts. These items all have certain <br /> deadlines and require certain language. Staff <br /> solicited a proposal from Mitchell <br /> Heppenheimer, who has been very involved <br /> with the County in the tax sale process, and <br /> has a great deal of knowledge of the process <br /> necessary to acquire a tax deed on these <br /> properties,.Mr. Heppenheimer's proposal <br /> Quotes a fee of$625, plus out of pocket <br /> expenses. Staff requests approval of a not- <br /> to-exceed amount of$700. <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Varner, seconded by COMMISSION ACCEPTED THE PROPOSAL FROM <br /> Ms. King and unanimously carried, the HEPPENHEIMER AND KORPAL FOR THE SCOPE OF <br /> Commission accepted the proposal from SERVICES AND FEE PROPOSED. <br /> Heppenheimer and Korpal for the scope of <br /> services and fee proposed. <br /> 13 <br />
