Luecke and his City Plan Team will present the final draft of South <br /> Bend's new twenty-year comprehensive plan to the Area Plan Commission for approval, on <br /> Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 3:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers on the 4t' floor of the <br /> County-City Building. Mayor Luecke has extended an invitation to the public to attend. <br /> The Final Draft of City Plan can be downloaded at www.SouthBendCiiyPlan.org. In <br /> addition to the 10 Key Topic Areas which are the heart of the Plan, it provides information on <br /> the purpose of the Plan and Plan areas, as well as an overview of South Bend history and <br /> demographics. The last chapter explains Implementation of the Plan and includes an Action Plan <br /> which establishes priorities for the first five years, organized within eight broad strategies: <br /> • Expand Economic Opportunities <br /> • Promote City Assets <br /> • Enhance City Services <br /> • Support Youth Development <br /> • Increase Public Participation <br /> • Ensure Quality Design and Physical Development <br /> • Raise Public Awareness <br /> • Conduct Analysis and Planning <br /> Each strategy contains a list of specific action steps that will help achieve its intent. <br /> All residents are encouraged to download the plan and review it, and to attend the Area <br /> Plan Commission public hearing in support of City Plan. Upon approval by the APC,the Plan <br /> will be submitted to the Common Council for approval as a resolution. This will mark the <br /> culmination of the development phase, and the beginning of Plan implementation! <br /> - 30 - <br />
