"This event will promote neighborliness and encourage neighbors to participate in making <br /> Monroe Park an even greater place to live. It provides an event for neighbors to get to know each <br /> other,meet members of the neighborhood association,become informed about MPNA events <br /> and projects, and spurs increased involvement,"Elizabeth Maradik from the Department of <br /> Community and Economic Development said. <br /> Laurie Echterling, MPNA President,has recently overseen other events like the upcoming ice <br /> cream social in her neighborhood. Over 150 Monroe Park neighbors enjoyed a summer block <br /> party on June 17a', celebrating summer with good friends, food, music, and games. CeaseFire, a <br /> program that focuses on reducing gun violence in neighborhoods, sponsored a Barbeque in the <br /> Monroe Park Neighborhood on July 14a' in collaboration with the MPNA. Neighbors enjoyed <br /> gathering for classic summer barbeque and fellowship on the corner of Fellows and South Street. <br /> The idea behind "Edy's Slow Churned Neighborhood Salute," is to enable friends and <br /> neighbors to, "Take time to enjoy life, one scoop at a time." Come August 5th, there will be one <br /> hundred happy residents of Monroe Park Neighborhood who will be doing just that! <br /> -30- <br />
