Luecke, Mayor <br /> RELEASE FROM: FOR RELEASE: <br /> Office of the Mayor Friday, October 21, 2005 <br /> City Investment in Neighborhoods Reaches $350,000 <br /> Now in its' 7th year, Mayor Stephen Luecke's "Clean City" initiative, the Building Blocks Grant (BBG) <br /> program has provided more than $350,000 to residents, non-profit organizations, civic groups, <br /> neighborhood associations, and churches within the City of South Bend, for beautification of their front <br /> lawns and enhancement of their neighborhood. Over 2,000 applications for assistance have been received <br /> and the program has assisted hundreds of residents and non-profit organizations in landscaping their <br /> properties. <br /> This year, the BBG program was allocated $80,000, and 520 residential, church and non-profit <br /> organizations took advantage of this opportunity to landscape their front yards and make their <br /> neighborhoods more attractive. Of these applicants, 445 received $125 in assistance, totaling $55,625.
