Luecke, Mayor RELEASE FROM:FOR RELEASE: Office of the MayorNovember 18, 2005 Mayor Luecke Proclaims Nutcracker Day Mayor Stephen J. Luecke has proclaimed Saturday, December 10, 2005 and every second Saturday in December, as the official Nutcracker Day for the City of South Bend. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Southold Dance Theater’s classical performance of The Nutcracker Ballet, composed by Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker Ballet is a holiday tradition presented by the Southold Dance Theater at the Morris Performing Arts Center, where Southold is in-residence. With all new choreography, under the direction of Artistic Director, Alexei Kremnev, and Artistic Associate, Anna Reznik, this year’s Nutcracker is soon to be the delight of our community’s festive season. On Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11, 2005, The Southold Dance Theater will perform for over 8,000 schoolchildren in four special performances specifically designed for them. In addition, on December 10 and December 11, Southold Dance Theater will be presenting three performances for the public, at the Morris Performing Arts Center. Mayor Luecke encourages residents to support the valuable contributions that the arts and organizations like Southold Dance Theater make to the quality of life and cultural vitality of our community.
