South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting —March 22, 2011 <br />Ms. King and unanimously carried, the SERVICES RELATED TO VOORDE PARK IN THE <br />Commission accepted the proposal from AMOUNT OF $12,000. (MASTER PLANNING AND <br />Lehman & Lehman for professional services DESIGN WORK) <br />related to Voorde Park in the amount of <br />$12,000. (Master planning and design work) <br />(7) Contract for Sale of Land for a portion of <br />Lot No. 8 in the Oliver Industrial Park. <br />Mr. Inks asked that Item 6.C.(7) be tabled. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Varner, seconded by ITEM 6.C.(7) WAS TABLED <br />Ms. King and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission tabled Item 6.C.(7). <br />D. West Washington- Chapin Development Area <br />(1) Request to begin process to add one <br />property the West Washington- Chapin <br />List of Properties to be Acquired. (803 W. <br />Washington) <br />Mr. Relos noted that this particular property <br />is directly north of the Center for History. <br />The structure on the property is known as the <br />Kaiser family home. It is locally designated <br />as an historical structure and is also in the <br />national historic register. Over decades this <br />house has been cut up into multiple <br />apartments, is surrounded by pavement for <br />tenant parking, and is generally in bad shape. <br />The house was built in 1895 for William L. <br />Kaiser, a well -known and respected <br />businessman. The house is smaller in scale <br />but similar in character to the Oliver mansion <br />across the street. Upon acquisition of this <br />property, staff will work with South Bend <br />Heritage Foundation for an adaptive re -use of <br />the building. Staff requests that the <br />Commission authorize it to begin the <br />preparation of plans, maps and related <br />acquisition information for this property. <br />14 <br />
