Locating utilities underground whenever possible is <br /> encouraged. <br /> (B) Exposed mechanical equipment along primary and secondary street <br /> frontages is prohibited. <br /> (C) Rooftop mechanical equipment must be located in the center or rear corner <br /> of building, away from the primary street elevation viewshed. <br /> (D) Rooftop mechanical equipment must'be screened by the roof form. When <br /> the roof form cannot hide such equipment, a solid screen must be <br /> constructed of materials similar to those of the primary facade. Perforated <br /> or louvered screens may be used, however, noise levels emanating from <br /> mechanical equipment must meet City of South Bend Noise Ordinances <br /> for Residential Occupancies. Noise level readings must be taken at the <br /> nearest residential use. <br /> (E) Whenever possible, commercial buildings should have interior downspout <br /> and gutter systems. Exterior downspouts and gutters are allowed, if <br /> installed with decorative scuppers and downspouts. Rainwater discharge <br /> must be drained away from pedestrian areas and according to South Bend <br /> Municipal Code. <br /> 32 <br />
