Navarre Street, South Bend, IN, stated, I was on the Residential
Neighborhoods Committee for the Common Council and this only lasted a year. I want to sign up
again to be more involved in our City's neighborhoods. I'm going to the Clerk's Office tomorrow
morning to sign up for another year. I talked to the neighbors yesterday. There are all kinds of
stories. They say he only shot fifteen(15)times but it was more than that. I was in the 1600 block
of College Street and it sounded like Babe Ruth. People were really shaken. There were people
two (2) and three (3) blocks away running and ducking behind anything they could. They didn't
know where the bullets were coming from. I talked to the Mayor briefly. I also talked to the Police
Chief. He is in Washington D.C.with the Mayor. We have to stop this.I don't know how to express
it but it has got to stop. Summer time is coming and it will start getting hot. These animals are not
going to take over our City and we can't sit back and say we are working on it. We have to treat
them like they are treating us. We have to take charge and I don't want to be behind the scenes. I
want to be out there and run toward it. The park that we talked about is really disappointing. When
that park opened there were some new kids that would go and it was beautiful. I'm worried about
the little kids. I will get you a copy of the video tape.
Rod Goodchild, 837 S. 24th Street, South Bend, IN, stated, It is a pleasure to be back. I have my
lucky jacket on and Marion Nation speaks. Lou Holtz' jacket from the Century Center fits me
good. I feel good in it. Spring time is here and I can't be any happier. You know we have the Best.
Week. Ever. coming and when I was sitting there I couldn't help but hear people talking about the
needs, the needs, the needs and we want to better, better, better our community. It is on your display
with the mission statement as the highest priority, they say, with our founding fathers. I bring this
up because we do have the sixteen(16)magnificent twenty(20)to forty(40) foot works of art.No
place else, anywhere, in the Midwest has it. I bring up that Trailblazer who people say, that
15
