SPECIAL MEETING JULY 16, 2007 <br />The Council has to support people who need but she expects Notre Dame to support more <br />than just homeless centers and those kinds of things on the Westside of town. She stated <br />that she will be seeing what the University does when its comes to areas outside of their <br />back door. She will also being seeing all the fervor here. One of the most legitimate <br />criticisms is that you can get Americans to stand up for Whales, Bears, Deer, and Birds <br />but can you get Americans to stand up for human beings. Your human beings live on the <br />Westside of Town and she hopes that she sees the University standing up with the same <br />fervor for the Westside of Town as she has heard them speak tonight and she will be able <br />to vote for this proposal tonight. <br />Councilmember Rouse made a motion to accept Bill 26-07 as amended, and the Eddy <br />Street Commons Planned Unit Development revised on July 16, 2007 and the written <br />commitments dated July 16, 2007, also know as "Exhibit A" and recommend to full <br />Council with a favorable recommendation. Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion <br />which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />RISE AND REPORT <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion to rise and report to the full Council. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) <br />ayes. <br />ATTEST: <br />ATTEST: <br />John Voorde, City Clerk Karen L. White, Chairperson <br />Committee of the Whole <br />REGULAR MEETING RECONVENED <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend reconvened in the <br />Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the County-City Building at 10:05 p.m. Council <br />President Tim Rouse presided with nine (9) members present. <br />BILLS -THIRD READING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8772-07 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE <br />ZONING ORDINANCE FOR 24.345 ACRES <br />GENERALLY LOCATED BETWEEN ANGELA <br />BOULEVARD/EDISON ROAD AND <br />NAPOLEON STREET, AND APPROXIMATELY <br />200 FEET WEST OF EDDY STREET AND 700 <br />FEET EAST OF DUEY STREET, EXTENDED, <br />COUNCILMANIC DISTRICT NO. 4 IN THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />This bill had third reading. Councihnember Puzzello made a motion to amend this bill as <br />it was in the Committee of the Whole, including Exhibit "A" Councilmember Dieter <br />seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. Additionally, <br />Councilmember Dieter made a motion to pass this bill as amended, and including Exhibit <br />"A" Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried. The bill passed by a <br />roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />24 <br />
