REGULAR MEETING MAY 14, 2007 <br />Section III. The Common Council hereby declares the week of May 14, 2007, as <br />Law Enforcement Memorial Week in South Bend, Indiana. The Common Council urges <br />all citizens to attend the upcoming Memorial Service on Friday, May 18, 2007, and to <br />always remember those who have given their lives while serving as part of the "thin blue <br />line" standing between the lawful and the lawless. The Council honors all of our <br />dedicated police officers for their individual commitment to their police careers and for <br />their daily commitment to making our community safe. <br />Section IV. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br />adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s/Derek D. Dieter, lgt District <br />s/Charlotte D. White, 1912 Malvern Way, South Bend, Indiana and AI <br />"Buddy" Kirsits, 722 Marquette Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for <br />this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in its <br />entirety and presenting it to Gary Horvath, Division Chief, South Bend Police <br />Department. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this Resolution. <br />Gary Horvath, Division Chief, South Bend Police Department, thanked the Council for <br />this Resolution. Chief Horvath advised that Chief Fautz was in Washington D.C. for the <br />National Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. Chief Horvath further noted that this <br />Resolution honors all of the dedicated police officers and their commitment to making <br />the community a safer place. <br />Sgt. Walsh, F.O. P. #36 thanked the Council for this honor. He stated that Cpl. Scott <br />Severns was the 381st name added to the Memorial. <br />Darryl Boykins, Uniform Division Chief, South Bend Police Department, thanked the <br />Council for this Resolution. He stated that he prays that the City won't have to go <br />through losing another officer. <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3743-07 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />PUBLICLY COMMENDING AND HONORING <br />THOMAS MICHAEL ZBIKOWSKI AND THE <br />TOMMY Z9 FOUNDATION FOR THEIR <br />OVERWHELMING GENEROSITY AND <br />COUNTLESS ACTS OF KINDNESS <br />
