JA <br />APRIL 23, 1956 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, <br />April 23, 1956 at 10:00 A.M. (DST). All members were present. Minutes <br />of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Engineering <br />100.25 <br />Weisberger Bros, Inc. <br />5.95 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Fire Chief Andzejewski appeared before the Board and matters per- <br />taining to his Department were discussed. <br />Fire Chief requested permission for William Downes to attend Ar- <br />son School at Purdue University on the 24th and 25th of April, 1956. <br />Permission granted. <br />Request of Carl B. Ledderrer to attend Civil Defense Duty for 2 <br />weeks beginning April 16, 1.956 to April 30, 1956 was granted by the <br />Board. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Officer Carl Moore, Jr. <br />who is being charged for violation of Regulation 12 of the Rules and Regu- <br />lations of the South Bend Police Department. After discussion by the <br />Board members, the following finding was made: That said Carl Moore, Jr. <br />be suspended from Police Duty for a period of 2 weeks beginning on April <br />17, 1956 to April 30, 1956 ipclusive, and that he return to police duty <br />on the 1st of May, 1956. But, for fine of additional penalty, Said Moore <br />will have Z' of his monthly salary deducted for four (4) mo nths. Officer <br />Moore pleaded guilty to this charge. <br />With reference to the hearing and finding on April 16, 1956 of <br />Officer Poelvoorde, the Board now makes the following change: That said <br />Poelvoorde be suspended from Police Duty for a period of 30 days instead <br />of 60 days and return to active duty on May 5, 1956. For the additional <br />penalty, $50.00 will be deducted from his salary monthly until the fine <br />is paid. <br />
