South Bend Redevelopment Commission Regular Meeting -September 17, 2010 6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) E. Airport Economic Development Area (13) Reimbursement to Transpo for expanded sidewalk costs. Mr. Relos noted that as Transpo was designing its new facility at Indiana and Lafayette, city staff had discussions with Transpo about project design. It has been envisioned that the perimeter of Ignition Park would have nice green space, plenty of tree lawn, and an eight-foot sidewalk around the park that would serve both pedestrians and bicyclists. City standards require afour-foot sidewalk. That's all Transpo would have had to put in. Transpo wanted afive-foot sidewalk, but decided to put in the eight-foot one so that it would tie in with the eight-foot one the city would build on the remainder of Ignition Park. Transpo is now asking the city to participate in the cost difference between the five-foot and eight-foot walks, a difference of $15,143. That seems to be a great price for two blocks of eight-foot sidewalk. Upon a motion by Mr. Downes. seconded by Mr. Varner and unanimously carried, the Commission approved reimbursement to Transpo for $15,143 for expanded sidewalk costs. (14) Resolution No. 2775 ratifying the execution of documents on behalf of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Department of Redevelopment (Ivy Tech Donation) Mr. Meteiver noted that this is a housekeeping resolution.
