REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 9, 2010 Councilmember Rouse, Chairperson, Community and Economic Development Committee reported that this committee held a Public Hearing on both Bill Nos. 10-36 and 10-37 this afternoon and voted to send them to the full Council with favorable recommendations. Mr. Jeff Lea, 4303 Technology Drive, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for these bills. Mr. Lea advised that Patterson Logistics Services, Inc. operates distribution facilities for the company’s medical, dental and veterinary divisions. They are proposing to purchase an existing 208,000 square foot warehouse/distribution center that is only partially occupied. They propose to construct physical improvements including mechanical and electrical upgrades plus 7,500 square feet of new office and supporting spaces necessary to support planned operations, install logistical equipment to set up the building as a distribution center. A Public Hearing was held on the Resolutions at this time. There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to these Resolutions. Councilmember White made a motion to adopt Bill No. 10-36. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. Councilmember Puzzello made a motion to adopt Bill No. 10-37. Councilmember Dieter seconded the motion which carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. RESOLUTION NO. 4044-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 902 N. ST. PETER STREET AS A RESIDENTIALLY DISTRESSED AREA FOR PURPOSES OF A (5) FIVE-YEAR RESIDENTIAL REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT FOR PATRICK PERRELLA WHEREAS, a Statement of Benefits and a petition for residential real property tax abatement have been submitted to and filed with the City Clerk for consideration by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, requesting that the area commonly known as 902 N. St. Peter Street, South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly described as follows: That part of the Northeast Quarter of Section 1, Township 37 North, Range 2 East, Portage Township, City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana which is described as: Lot #130A of the Plat of “Sorin’s Second Addition Fifth Replat” Subdivision recorded by Document No. 0809811 in the Records of the St. Joseph County, Indiana Recorder’s Office. Containing 0.38 acres more or less.
