REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 9, 2010 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Kirsits stated that he believes this project would be sensitive to the <br />members of the Zion Church. He stated that they have heard tonight from restaurant <br />owners who will be competing with this project and are in total favor of this <br />development. He stated that Mr. McDonnell deserves a chance and believes that based <br />on his strong commitment to the City of South Bend will see this development be an asset <br />to the community. <br /> <br />Councilmember Puzzello stated that this project is in her district. She stated that she has <br />lived in that area longer than Teacher’s Credit Union, but not as long at the Zion Church. <br />She stated that she is totally against student bars and believes that this project will not be <br />that. She believes that this project is a positive one that will be a great addition to the <br />East Bank Area. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rouse stated that he has a great deal of respect for the congregation of <br />Zion United Church of Christ and would encourage Mr. McDonnell to work together to <br />make this project a success. <br /> <br />Council President Dieter thanked everyone tonight for their comments and concerns. He <br />believes that this is a good project and is very much in favor of it. <br /> <br />There being no one else present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in <br />opposition to this bill. Councilmember Kirsits made a motion to adopt this Resolution. <br />Councilmember White seconded the motion which carried. The Resolution was adopted <br />by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 10-36 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE <br /> ADOPTION OF A DECLARATORY <br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN <br /> AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br /> INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 7055 <br /> CLEVELAND RD. AS AN ECONOMIC <br /> REVITALIZATION AREA FROM PURPOSES <br /> OF A SEVEN (7) YEAR REAL PROPERTY TAX <br /> ABATEMENT FOR PATTERSON LOGISTICS <br /> SERVICES, INC. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BILL NO. 10-37 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE <br /> ADOPTION OF A DECLARATORY <br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN <br /> AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br /> INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 7055 <br /> CLEVELAND ROAD TO BE AN ECONOMIC <br /> REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF <br /> A FIVE (5) YEAR PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX <br /> ABATEMENT FOR PATTERSON LOGISTICS <br /> SERVICES, INC. <br /> <br />Councilmember Varner made a motion to combine Bill Nos. 10-36 and 10-37 for the <br />purpose of Public Hearing.
