Recreation Director, 574.299.4768 ext. 245 <br /> <br />SB Park Dept. to begin rental of “Street Strider” & bikes <br />at East Race <br /> <br /> <br />SOUTH BEND, Indiana – What has three wheels, unconventional handlebars, provides a <br />great workout, and is a lot of fun? The “Street Strider” of course. The South Bend <br />Parks & Recreation Department has four of the new pieces of equipment and will begin <br />th <br />renting them to the public weekends beginning July 17 . The Strider’s will be located <br />at the East Race, along with three conventional bikes. <br /> <br />What is a Street Strider? Imagine an elliptical cross trainer on wheels. The strider <br />combines jogging, cycling, and skiing motions into an easy to ride fun outdoor activity. <br />The “Street Strider” was also featured on the popular program “The Biggest Loser”. <br />The strider and bikes will rent for $5 an hour, and the user will be required to provide a <br />current, valid ID. Rental times are the same as East Race operating hours, Saturdays <br />from 12n-5 pm, and Sundays 1 pm- 5 pm. <br /> <br />The public can get a glimpse of the strider on the South Bend Parks & Recreation <br />Department’s web site at www.sbpark.org/aquatics/strider.htm , or by visiting the East <br />Race weekends! <br /> <br />Remember, July is National Parks & Recreation month, so everyone should get off the <br />couch and enjoy an area park! <br /> <br />For more information on Parks & Recreation Department events, facilities, or programs, <br />call (574) 299-4765 or visit www.sbpark.org . <br /> <br />### <br /> <br />
