South Bend Redevelopment Commission Regular Meeting –March 5, 2010 in the program. Mr. Blake: I understand what you are saying. I don’t have a problem with that. But what I do have a problem with is this: you would evaluate us. You look at the glass and it’s half full or half empty. Pretty much what we’ve gotten is a half empty glass from you. You evaluate us from the part that’s missing rather than from the part that’s there: what we are doing. We’re doing it in the way that we know how to do it. Now, I understand. But, if you decide that you want to get a carpenter to work in your house, are you going to get one that’s the cheapest one you can find? Or are you going to get one that knows what they are doing? I’m trying to be as real as I can be. If that costs us not getting funded, that’s fine. But I’m going to be real. We have done this over and over again. We (the Commission) try to give certain organizations the least that we can give them. Dave, when you say, “You guys got to go find some money somewhere else.” Why don’t you help us find some? You’re not concerned about helping us find any money. You just want to make sure that we don’t use any more than what’s in the pot. I just heard you switch money from one pot to another pot to achieve whatever you want to do with Coveleski or something. You switch and you find money, you flip it around, but when it comes to us (Project Impact and other organizations like it), especially when we focus on the inner city, low income, no income, poverty. I know, I’ve been told, “Hardie don’t get up and say that kind of stuff.” Well I’m saying it, because I’m sick of it. I am sick of being treated second class. I’m sick of the way things are done.
