With some small <br />community based businesses, Mr. Summers <br />offered to do their marketing, finding them <br />additional business, if those companies <br />would consider hiring employees from <br />Project Impact. Some small, start-up <br />businesses have said yes to that offer. <br /> <br />Mr. Summer said the third effort they have <br />made is to develop a partnership with <br />WorkOne. They explained Project Impact to <br />WorkOne’s regional director: both the life <br />skills training and the on-going support. Fort <br />Wayne’s WorkOne has been providing those <br />services. The regional director here said <br />WorkOne anticipated they were going to <br />have to create such a program here. Instead, <br />they are thrilled to cooperate with Project <br />Impact. Project Impact clients will have jobs <br />to go to through WorkOne right after they <br />complete their training. Project Impact wants <br />to now leverage that partnership to get <br />training certifications for their clients. <br /> <br />In addition to partnering with small <br />businesses, Project Impact has aggressively <br />tried to create businesses at which the clients <br />can work and that might generate income to <br />support Project Impact. Mr. Summers found <br />a small apparel manufacturer in Washington <br />D.C. that was about to set up operations in <br />Chicago. Mr. Summers convinced them to <br />come and try setting up their operation right <br />at Project Impact. They brought and set up <br />five industrial sewing machines at Project <br />Impact’s facility. Clients are now making <br />sports uniforms for Chicago public schools. <br />Plus, Project Impact has started to talk with <br />local schools about producing for them. <br />Youth Service Bureau has agreed to purchase <br /> 35 <br /> <br />
