INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Information Technologies Department
227 W Jefferson Blvd (574) 245-6000
TO: Board of Public Works, Linda Martin
CC: Dan O'Connor
FROM: Michael E. Sniadecki, Director of Infrastructure
SUBJECT: NSI Wireless Upgrade for SBPD Body Camera In -Car Video
DATE: 02/16/18
Linda and Members of the Board,
Please see attached quote/contract to upgrade wireless coverage to the SBPD
maintenance garage and outdoor parking lot areas within SBPD for the Utility Body
Camera In -Car Video solution project. The Office of Innovation and Technology & SBPD
teams have reviewed the quote and give -favorable recommendation as well. The
Contract with Utility Associates for the SBPD Body Camera In -Car Video Cameras was
approved by the BPW on 11/28/17.
Clarifications:
The proposed solution uses both indoor and outdoor model Meraki access points to provide the
requested solution. This solution consists of the following capabilities:
• The two Meraki MR33 access points will be installed inside the maintenance garage to provide area
coverage throughout the maintenance bay.
• One additional Meraki MR74 access points will be mounted to the North side of the garage. The AP in
these locations will use MA-ANT-20 Omni directional antennas for coverage.
Based upon Cisco's family of products, and NSI services, NSI will give City of South Bend the desired
wireless coverage both in the garage space and outdoor parking lot to serve their needs.
Projected cost is a one-time setup, purchase of Hardware, Syr subscription and
installation fee for the total of $3,878.20. Network Solutions does have the State
QPA and will assist in the implementation of this solution into our existing SBPD
environment.
Thank you,
Michael E. Sniadecki
