South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting –February 19, 2010 <br /> <br />Mr. Varner commented that his first <br />preference would have been for the city to <br />find some sort of accommodation with the <br />Humane Society. But, it’s been fourteen <br />years since South Bend split from the <br />Humane Society, and that’s not going to <br />happen. It is important to have a facility that <br />is humane and provides the necessary <br />services. <br /> <br />Mr. Varner voiced a concern expressed by <br />Councilman Henry Davis: that at some point <br />the investment of $1.5 million may be <br />considered part of the investment committed <br />to LaSalle Square. Mr. Gibney said he <br />understands that this investment does not <br />decrease the city’s commitment to LaSalle <br />Square.
