ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis, John Voorde, Jo M. Broden, Gerry Phipps (citizen member) Committee Member Absent: Gavin Ferlic Other Council Present: Karen White, Tim Scott, Randy Kelly, Regina Williams- Preston (late) Other Council Absent: Dr. David Varner Others Present: Aladean DeRose, Adriana Rodriguez, Kareemah Fowler, Graham Sparks Agenda: Zoning and Annexation Organizational Meeting(5 minutes) Committee Chair Oliver Davis called to order the Zoning and Annexation Committee Organizational meeting at 3:33 p.m. He then opened the floor to comments from the members of the committee. Committeemember John Voorde stated, I appreciate the opportunity to foster open communication about the issues that face this committee. Committeemember Jo M. Broden stated, There was a training meeting made available to Council members last year. I would like to see how we can communicate that to the community and the media. There were a lot of significant issues raised in that training. As we go about Zoning and Annexation considerations,just a reminder that at the start of those discussions, it would be very helpful for the public to understand the criteria which we have to operate under when making those decisions. Committee Chair Davis stated, I know some decisions have been shifted to the Board of Public Works and Community Investment. Some responsibility has been shifted and shared with those decisions.
