Councilmember Gavin <br /> Ferlic seconded the motion which carried by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> RESOLUTIONS <br /> BILL NO. <br /> 17-57 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> APPROVING A PETITION OF THE AREA <br /> BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS FOR THE <br /> PROPERTY LOCATED AT 211 W. MONROE <br /> STREET <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis, Chair of the Zoning and Annexation Committee,reported that <br /> they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Chuck Bulot, Building Commissioner,with offices at 125 South Lafayette Boulevard, South <br /> Bend, IN, served as the presenter of this bill. Mr. Bulot stated,At the October 4th, 2017 meeting <br /> of the Area Board of Zoning Appeals, a petition for a special exception use for a temporary <br /> group residence from December 1St, 2017 through April 1 St, 2018 was heard and comes to you <br /> with a unanimous favorable recommendation. <br /> Daniel Vanderveen, Hope Ministries, 432 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, IN, served as <br /> the petitioner of this bill. Mr. Vanderveen stated, Our intent is to use this building for weather <br /> amnesty. This winter, as you know,we have homeless individuals living on our streets and in the <br /> winter we as a community need to provide them with housing to keep them from dying on our <br /> streets. We used this building last year under the emergency exception. We need to use it one (1) <br /> more year. We're working with the City—the Mayor mentioned an initiative to house folks <br /> permanently, but we know we need to do this again this year. <br /> 21 <br />
