REGULAR MEETING October 9, 2017 <br /> ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE SOUTH BEND <br /> CITY CLERK FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2018 <br /> Councilmember Karen White, Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee, reported that they <br /> met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Kareemah Fowler, City Clerk, with offices on the 4th Floor of the County-City Building, South <br /> Bend, IN, served as the presenter of this bill. Clerk Fowler stated, Dear Councilmembers, <br /> submitted for your consideration is the ordinance that sets the salary for the South Bend City <br /> Clerk for the 2018 calendar year. This ordinance increases the Clerk's salary for 2018 by two <br /> percent(2%) and is congruent with the proposed increase for other non-bargaining employees <br /> and other elected officials. So, I ask for your consideration today and I thank you in advance. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br /> opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> There were none from the public wishing to speak in favor of or opposition to this bill. <br /> Councilmember Tim Scott made a motion to send Bill No. 59-17 to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which carried by <br /> a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> 60-17 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE <br /> ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE COMMON <br /> COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEAR <br /> 2018 <br /> Councilmember Karen White, Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee, reported that they <br /> met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Tim Scott, President of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, 711 Forest Avenue, <br /> South Bend, IN, served as the presenter of this bill. Councilmember Scott stated, Before you is <br /> an ordinance to set the maximum increase for overall salary for the Common Council at two <br /> percent (2%) in conjunction with everybody else within the City. The 2017 salary is $19,030— <br /> and going to 2018 at$19,411. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill,proponents and <br /> opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> There were none from the public wishing to speak in favor of or opposition to this bill. <br /> Councilmember Randy Kelly made a motion to send Bill No. 60-17 to the full Council with a <br /> favorable recommendation. Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which carried by <br /> a voice vote of eight(8) ayes and one (1) nay(Councilmember Tim Scott). <br /> 61-17 PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE <br /> ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE MAYOR FOR <br /> CALENDAR YEAR 2018 <br /> Councilmember Karen White, Chair of the Personnel and Finance Committee, reported that they <br /> met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Jen Hockenhull, City Controller, with offices on the 12th Floor of the County-City Building, <br /> South Bend, IN, served as the presenter of this bill. Ms. Hockenhull stated, We are respectfully <br /> requesting, as with other elected officials enlisted in the non-bargaining City workforce, a two <br /> percent(2%) salary increase for the Mayor,taking it up to $108,710 for 2018. <br /> 14 <br />
