Glossary of Terms <br />actual cost Actual energy cost taken directly from utility bill. <br />actual savings Savings derived through the MetrixTM program; baseline less <br />actual costs. Positive actual savings indicate utility costs have <br />been reduced after adjusting for weather and other variables in <br />dollars. <br />balance point (HtgDD), the outdoor temperature below which space heating is <br />required or (C1gDD), the outdoor temperature above which <br />space cooling is required. <br />baseline The adjusted, tuned pre -retrofit bills (usually 1 year) used to <br />compare, to post -installation usage in order to calculate savings. <br />baseline cost Cost calculated for the baseline using current rates. <br />billed dollars Amount billed from utility company. <br />bill matching Adjustment made by MetriN m .to account for differing number <br />of days in the billing period before calculating cost avoidance. <br />cost avoidance The difference between the baseline cost and the actual or <br />SimActual cost in dollars. <br />degree-day Unit representing one degree of difference between the balance <br />point selected and the average temperature during one day. <br />EER Energy Efficiency Ratio of cooling equipment defined as the <br />cooling effect in BTU's divided by the power use in watts <br />guarantee period Time period specified in contract for which Honeywell will <br />guarantee energy savings. <br />guarantee year Number identifying for which year the review is performed <br />based on the number of years the guarantee is in effect. <br />guaranteed savings Those savings Honeywell promises the customer through the <br />use of maintenance programs, retrofits, upgrades and energy <br />management systems. <br />Year 3 Cost Avoidance Report, City of Cincinnati PII 5.9 <br />
