REGULAR MEETING July 24, 2017 <br /> Therese Doreau, Director of the Sustainability Office in the Department of Public Works, with <br /> offices on the 13th Floor of the County-City Building, South Bend, IN, stated that this is a <br /> community-led initiative with no financial investment or risk adopted by the City. Ms. Doreau <br /> stated, I'm very grateful for the work of the steering committee. It's a great example of the <br /> responsibility for sustainability being spread throughout the community. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill,proponents and <br /> opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> Those from the public wishing to speak in favor of this bill: <br /> Victor Meyers, 336 West Navarre Street, South Bend, IN, stated that he is a volunteer in this <br /> effort. Mr. Meyers stated that he is very appreciate of the support of the City. He stated, I think it <br /> can go a long way toward endorsing a commitment by residents to transition from fossil fuels— <br /> at least, diminish the use and dependence on them toward friendlier environmental solutions for <br /> the future. <br /> There were none from the public wishing to speak in opposition to the bill. <br /> Councilmember Gavin Ferlic made a motion to adopt Bill No. 17-40.
