Councilmember Karen <br /> White seconded the motion which carried by a roll call vote of seven (7) ayes. <br /> RESOLUTIONS <br /> BILL, NO. <br /> 17-34 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> ACCEPTING AND CONFIRMING A <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND <br /> REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> DETERMINING THAT THE ASSESSED VALUE <br /> OF PROPERTY IN THE DOUGLAS ROAD <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AREA FOR TAX <br /> YEAR PAYABLE 2018 MAY BE ALLOCATED <br /> TO THE RESPECTIVE TAXING UNITS AND <br /> OTHER RELATED MATTERS <br /> Councilmember Regina Williams-Preston, Vice Chair of the Community Investment Committee, <br /> reported that they met this afternoon and send this bill forward with a favorable <br /> recommendation. <br /> Beth Leonard Inks, Department of Community Investment, with offices on the 14th Floor of the <br /> County-City Building, South Bend, IN, served as the presenter of this bill. Ms. Inks stated, The <br /> resolution before you today will release the increment from the Douglas Road TIF for payable <br /> 2018. The reason we are doing that is because we do not anticipate a need for it next year. We <br /> have some debt that is expected to be paid off in August. At that point in time, we will look at <br /> what our final plans are for any money that might be left, and closing this TIF, probably, in early <br /> 2018. <br /> Councilmember Oliver Davis asked, Once it's paid off, how are we notified as a Council that it's <br /> paid off? <br /> Ms. Inks responded, Well, we can send you an email. <br /> Councilmember Dr. David Varner stated, Just for the record, I don't think you can close a TIF <br /> district with outstanding indebtedness, so it has to be cleared completely before. So, this will just <br /> be part of the process in anticipation. <br /> This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br /> opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br /> 14 <br />
