PART IV -- STANDARD CONDITIONS <br />A. Prohibited Discharges <br />General prohibitions. No perrnittee shall introduce or cause to be introduced into <br />the POTW any pollutant or wastewater which causes Pass Through or <br />Interference. <br />2. Specifrc prohibitions. No permittee shall introduce or cause to be introduced <br />certain pollutants, substances, or wastewater into any public sewers or directly or <br />indirectly into the POTW. Those pollutants, substances or wastewater prohibited <br />by this subsection shall not be processed or stored in such a manner that they <br />could be discharged to the POTW. The following described pollutants are <br />expressly prohibited: <br />a. Any gasoline, benzene, naphtha, fuel oil or other pollutants which create a <br />fire or explosive hazard to the POTW, including, but not limited to, waste <br />streams with a closed -cup flashpoint of less than one hundred forty (140) <br />degrees Fahrenheit (sixty (60) degrees Celsius) using the test methods <br />specified in 40 CFR 261.21. <br />b. Any wastewater containing toxic pollutants in sufficient quantity, either <br />singly or by interaction with other pollutants, to injure or interfere with any <br />wastewater treatment process, constitute a hazard to humans or animals, <br />create a toxic effect in the receiving waters of the wastewater works, or to <br />exceed the limitations set forth in the applicable Federal Categorical <br />Pretreatment Standards or other pretreatment standards or regulation issued <br />by the EPA or the IDEM. Toxic pollutants are identified pursuant to Section <br />307(a) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended. <br />c. Solid or viscous substances in quantities or of such size capable of causing <br />obstruction to the flow in sewers, or other interference with the proper <br />operation of the sewage works such as, but not limited to ashes, cinders, <br />sand, mud, straw, shavings, metal, glass, rags, feathers, tar, plastics, wood, <br />unground garbage, whole blood, paunch manure, hair and fleshings, <br />entrails, paper, dishes, cups, milk containers, etc., either whole or ground <br />by garbage grinders. <br />d. Any pollutant, including oxygen -demanding pollutants (BOD, etc.), <br />released in a discharge at a flow rate and/or pollutant concentration which, <br />either singly or by interaction with other pollutants, will cause interference <br />with the POTW. <br />13 <br />
