Venues, Parks, and Arts Waste Management & Recycling Services
City of South Bend, Indiana, Board of Public Works November 22, 2016
F. Recycling Recapture Rate
For venues, such those locations identified in Appendix A for the City of South Bend Board of Works RFP
we see a 15%- 20% diversion rate for plastics, glass, paper and cardboard void of any contamination.
The Century Center Et the Morris Performing Arts Century provide the most opportunity to meet or
exceed the 20% diversion rate with a robust "Recycle Right' educational program for employees. In
addition, clearly marked recycling containers and signage strategically located throughout these
facilities stating the sustainability initiatives adopted by city will help deliver the message to the
patrons of these venues.
The attached example Historical Diversion Rate report would be provided for these venues to track the
success of the recycling programs. This report is from a similar venue and tracks the volume of plastic,
glass, paper and cardboard on a monthly basis.
120%
100%
80%
60%
40%
20%
0%
Historical Diversion Rate
97% COW
0
tl 14%
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1 8 9 1c
2016
10 THINK GREEN:
