REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 7. 1985 <br />Real and Personal Property (all risk) <br />Business Interruption (all risk) <br />Boiler and Machinery (physical damage) <br />Floater coverages <br />Workmen's Compensation & Employer's <br />Liability <br />Comprehensive General Liability <br />Comprehensive Automobile Liability <br />& Physical Damage <br />Catastrophe (umbrella) Excess Liability <br />Crime Coverages & Public Officials Airs <br />& Omissions <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above request was approved. <br />FILING OF PETITION FOR RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE - 300 <br />& 400 EAST EWING <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Stanley and Mary Ellen Watson, 410 <br />East Ewing Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the Board a <br />Petition signed by the residents of the 300 and 400 blocks of <br />East Ewing Street, requesting restricted residential parking only <br />between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday <br />due to the parking problems associated with school hours at Riley <br />High School. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Ms. Barnard and carried, the Petition was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation. It was <br />noted that a traffic study will be conducted by the Bureau to <br />determine if the restriction is warranted and that would take <br />about sixty (60) days. <br />APPROVE MOVING STOP SIGN FROM VASSAR STREET TO COLLEGE STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, Division <br />of Engineering, advised the Board that the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting has recently completed a traffic study at the above <br />location. This study showed that the weekday vehicular traffic <br />volume was as follows: <br />Vassar Weekday Average <br />College Weekday Average <br />According to the Indiana Manual on <br />devices, a stop sign is warranted <br />important road with a main road. <br />is based on traffic volumes. <br />1,628 Veh/Day <br />532 Veh/Day <br />uniform traffic control <br />at an intersection of a less <br />The determination of importance <br />Since Vassar is considered the main road due to the traffic <br />volume, this is the road that should go through. College should <br />have the stop sign. With this in mind, Mr. Pluta is recommending <br />that the stop sign be switched from Vassar to College. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE FOR THE GIPPER SHOW - OCTOBER 18, <br />1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />.request made by Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community <br />Affairs, on behalf of the Hospice for various traffic control <br />assistance and to place a banner across Jefferson Street at <br />Michigan Street for the Gipper Show, said request submitted to <br />the Board on September 30, 1985, and recommend approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, <br />the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />1 <br />
