REGULAR MEETING September 14, 2015 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Mr. Gavin Ferlic made a motion to adopt Resolution 15-81. <br />Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion which carried and was adopted by a roll call <br />vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br />15-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING A CERTAIN AREA WITHIN THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 802 EAST ST. <br />VINCENT STREET, SOUTH BEND, IN 46617 AS A <br />RESIDENTIALLY DISTRESSED AREA FOR PURPOSES OF A (5) <br />FIVE YEAR RESIDENTIAL REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT FOR <br />JAMES AND SUSAN FARRINGTON <br /> <br />Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson of the Community Investment Committee, reported <br />that they met this afternoon and send Bill 15-82 to the full Council favorably. <br /> <br />th <br />Presenter: Brock Zeeb, 14 Floor Dept. of Community Investment – This is a five (5) year <br />residential real property tax abatement. James and Susan Farrington propose to build $525,000 <br />building at the address listed. The new property taxes to be created over a five (5) year period <br />$27,798. Estimated taxes to be abated over the five (5) year period is $1,893. Total taxes to be <br />paid over the five (5) year period $25,905. The petitioner is here to answer any questions you <br />may have. <br /> <br />Petitioner: David Sieradzki, Century Builders, 1115 Burns Ave., South Bend – I am the <br />contractor for the property. The current property is not in use, I would tear down the existing <br />structure and build a brand new home on a street where several abatements have been given over <br />the last few years. Councilmember <br />Gavin Ferlic seconded the motion which carried and was adopted by a roll call vote of nine (9) <br />ayes. <br /> <br />15-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CORRECTING SCRIVENER’S ERROR IN <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4471-15 APPROVING THE DISPOSITION OF <br />REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 51190 MAYFLOWER ROAD AND <br />51270 MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> <br />Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson of the Community Investment Committee, reported <br />that they met this afternoon and send Bill 15-83 to the full Council favorably. <br /> <br />th <br />Presenter: Brock Zeeb, 14 Floor Dept. of Community Investment – Staff would like to first <br />thank Kathy Cekanski-Farrand for helping us locate and correct this scrivener’s error in <br />resolution 4471-15 we asked to dispose of the property on Mayflower Road staff incorrectly <br />referenced Indiana Code Section 36-1-11-4.2, we asked for all references to be replaced in the <br />resolution with Code Section 36-1-11-4.
