REGULAR MEETING REPORTS OF CITY OFFICES January 11, 2016 Representing the city administration will be Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The Mayor spoke to the Council at this time. He congratulated the newly elected officers of the Council and said he looked forward to working with all nine (9) members going forward. Mayor Buttigieg wanted to express his appreciation, and the appreciation of the entire administration, in the work the Council handles. He also highlighted that this year is full of more positive opportunities for the City of South Bend than he has seen during his lifetime in terms of growth. He stated he will keep his remarks brief due to the State of the City address coming up very soon but wanted to take this time to welcome the new Council and City Clerk. RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE At 7:18 p.m. Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole. Councilmember Karen White seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson, presiding. Councilmember Gavin Ferlic explained the procedures to be followed for tonight's meeting in accordance with Article 1, Section 2 -11 of the South Bend Municipal Code. PUBLIC HEARINGS BILL NO. 81 -15 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTIES LOCATED AT 5603 F J NIMTZ PARKWAY, THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF F J NIMTZ PARKWAY AND MOREAU COURT AND PROPERTY NORTH OF AND ADJACENT TO 3575 MOREAU COURT, SOUTH BEND, IN COUNCILMANIC DISTRIC NO 1 IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to continue this bill until the January 25, 2016 meeting of the Council. Councilmember Dr. David Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 80 -15 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: FIRST E/W ALLEY NORTH OF CALIFORNIA AVE. BETWEEN SHERMAN AVE. AND THE NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to continue this bill until the January 25, 2016 meeting of the Council. Councilmember Tim Scott seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 78 -15 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 6, ARTICLE 4, SECTION 6 -10 (D) (2) OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE ADDRESSING PLUMBING EXCAVATOR FEES CHARGED BY THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT Councilmember Karen White, Chairperson, reported the Personnel and Finance Committee met and sends this bill to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation.
